My nutrition mantra, “If it didn’t grow from the ground or poop and breathe, I don’t eat it”.

What does that mean? Means I eat REAL foods. My non-negotiable's for nutrition:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

#1. All my meats MUST be GRASS FED ORGANIC.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

#2. My vegetables are all organic, and ideally locally sourced. My neighborhood CSA @windflowerfarms helps a ton on this front. Thanks guys!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

#3. We’re really only meant to drink water. I do drink tea, coffee and unflavored seltzer. I’m working on getting better with coffee, not gonna lie, that one’s hard. I do not drink fruit juices, sports drinks, and my BIGGEST no-no, energy drinks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

#4. For me personally, I do not consume sugars that aren’t naturally occurring in fruits and vegetables. No refined sugar, no honey, no sugar alternative (please don’t use these, they’re just chemicals, the WORST thing you can put in your body). I do this because sugar affects me SO much. When I have sugar, I get irritable, bloated, anxious and sometimes even acid reflux. When I’ve been really bad with sugar, even my back will lock up. No bueno. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

#5. I build every meal to ensure I’m getting all 3 Macronutrients. Proteins, Fats and Carbs. I try to make half my plate a protein, then 40% carbohydrate like veggies or a whole grain or legume, and 10% fat like the olive oil I cook with or put on a salad. This helps me keep my energy up and feel full between meals. Also, I eat about 5 times per day. I’m a snacker all the way!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Which of these do you live by? Which could you incorporate?
